B is for Baker {Santa Clarita Valencia 91355 Glamour Photographer}

This is Miss B.  She's young, beautiful and has fantastic hair!  We knew we needed to capitalize on those curls as soon as she walked in the door.

Miss B is a VERY talented baker, too.  She's self-taught and can create just about anything you want - I'm talking full blown ANYTHING.  You name it, she'll make an edible cake version.

Funny how I start craving a yummy treat the more I think about cake, frosting, etc...back to my post...

I was convinced that she should switch her career to modeling, she was so spot on with everything I told her to do.  This girl is just multi-talented!

L & M {Santa Clarita Valencia Engagement Wedding Photographer 91355}

Congrats to this lucky guy!  Aren't they adorable?  This couple was so sweet and fun to photograph.  I love engagement and wedding shoots because it's a chance for me to see how much a couple truly loves each other.  You can just see it in the way they look at one another.  They are just OOZING love, right?

  Their engagement session was a fun little precursor to the BIG day at the Los Angeles Temple in Santa Monica.  Even though it was all at the end of the year, we lucked out on the weather (Southern California, what do you expect?) and not to mention the traffic.  Everything just came together perfectly!  The sunset at the end of the day topped it off and gave us the perfect light to shoot into for that romantic, dreamy look that we all like LOVE.

LOVE pt. 2 {Santa Clarita Valencia Portrait Photographer 91355}

As a tribute to Martin Luther King Day, I wanted to highlight a quote of his (Jr.) that really stuck out to me...

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”
-Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Well actually, pretty much everything that came out of Martin Luther King Jr.'s mouth is quite inspirational and motivating, to say the least.  However, I love how this reminds me to always have love in my heart!  I don't consider myself a hateful kind of person, but I know that everyone has their bad days, or weeks, or months!  I love how MLK Jr. contrasts hate and love and the power that they each have in our lives.

It's easy to get caught up in all of our problems, or to see where our lives lack.  Don't focus on the negative, because that is all that will continue to come your way!  Why waste your energy on something you hate or don't like?  Think of what you have and how much more of a person you can become and what you can do with your life if you just love a little more?

Illuminate your life with LOVE.  My challenge to you and is to find one way to add a little more love into your day, everyday until Valentine's Day!  I am going to do this and report back on what has changed in my life, but I hope you can too.

If you have 5 minutes to spare, I recommend you read through some more of MLK Jr's quotes.  He truly was a great man.

LOVE {Santa Clarita Valencia Portrait Photographer}

Ok people, Valentine's Day is in ONE MONTH from today!  If you're like me, you haven't really given a ton of thought about what you are going to give your special someone.  Candy, flowers, a card...always nice but sometimes we need a little more than that.  How about a beautiful photo?  Something to remember you by always and forever.  Whether you give a photo of yourself or gift them a photo shoot, it's something that can't get eaten up or die a week later and forgotten about!  Perfect, right?

Take this lovely lady for example.  I'm pretty sure her man will want these photos to cherish his beauty, especially on V-Day.  Happy gifting!

My first shoot of the year {Santa Clarita Valencia Portrait Photographer}

I love this family!!!  I have watched them grow from a family of 2, to 3, and now soon-to-be 4.  I am so grateful that they have allowed me to create memories for them each year.  We rang in 2013 the right way, with a photo shoot of course!  Mr. B was busy as usual.  Ducks, cars, the lake...lots to look at and play with.  Good thing being cute comes easy for him!

The ducks (well, uh, some kind of water bird with lizard feet and crazy-red-alien-eyes) weren't shy at all!  They tried going for N's phone/hand while we were taking a closer look.  "Weird," was all I could think.

Oh AND while we were at another part of the lake a hawk swooped down and caught a fish right out of the water!  It was probably 40 feet away from us.  And then it flew around above us holding it's wiggly fish-prize.  I didn't realize that I was going to feel like I was in some sort of National Geographic adventure that day during the shoot, but maybe that's foretelling what the rest of my year will be like?  Maybe that's a good thing?

The Year in Review {Santa Clarita Valencia Portrait Photographer}

2013.  I still have some getting-used-to to do, but I have a feeling it's going to be an incredible year.  There's always so much to say about the future and what is in store for us.  But I before I get sucked into all of my ideas and projects and life in general, I wanted to take a minute and think about how I've gotten here.

I have really enjoyed listening to motivational speakers or even just reading a short quote.  It really is inspiring and always makes me want to get up and do whatever has been on my list of to-dos right then and there.  Now whether that feeling lasts for half a second or for the entire year is another thing...I am no different than the rest of the population.  (I, too, browse Pinterest and pin pictures and ideas thinking someday I would do them - but knowing in the back of my mind I probably never will!)  However, there was a moment in 2012 where I really let something I heard sink in.

"YOU are the only one that is stopping
you from getting what you want."

Hmmm.  True.  Now what should I do about that?  So I decided to just DO.  It didn't matter what it was, but if it was something I wanted to accomplish or have or do, I just DID.  I felt crazy and second guessed myself at times but knew that moving forward with what I wanted was the best thing for me.  And you know what?  It was!  It's amazing to look back and see how much can be accomplished if you just make the one small decision and stick with it. My life is better for it and my goal for 2013 is to do the same - having a blog is one of them!

Here's a little eye candy for ya! {Click!}
